HUST Campus Pictures III
This page of pictures is the mirror of the picture page of the HUST
homepage on HUST campus. There is no change to the original contents except
reformatting.
It was suggested in 1953 when the university (then an institute) was
being founded that school operation should have a fine environment. As
the old saying goes, "It takes ten years to grow a tree and a hundred
years to bring up a generation of good men." The university has brought
afforestation into line with the integrated planning for the campus. It
is its practice to manage to pave a section of a path, make it green and
pretty by planting trees whenever a new building is to be erected. After
42 Years' careful planning and unremitting afforestation, the green space
of the campus is above 95%. In 1986, CCTV broadcast a documentary
entitled "Song of a Green Garden" in its program of "Around the country"
introducing this university to its audience. In 1991, the university was
elected a national advanced unit for afforestation.
There are nearly 500 buildings for different uses on the
3,360-mu-campus of HUST, with a floor space of 800,000 sq.m. Experts from
foreign countries say that HUST is a good place for doing research.
